Ceremony

Graduation Practice & Rehearsal

Graduation is fast approaching and in order to ensure that the process runs smoothly as possible we wanted to keep you informed of some important dates:

•    May 3rd      Senior Class Meeting 8:30am in Cafeteria
•    May 8th      Awards Night 6:00-7:30pm in Cafeteria
•    May 18th    Adult Education courses completed

•    May 24th    Senior Check-Out Day
•    May 25th    Senior Breakfast 7:30am-8:00am
                        Cap/Gown Distribution 8:00am-8:30am
                        *Mandatory Graduation Rehearsal 8:30am-10:30am
 
 
*No heels will be allowed on the stadium turf during graduation practice or the official ceremony
*If you miss the Mandatory Graduation Rehearsal, you will not walk across the stage, no exceptions
 

2018 Graduation

              Class of 2018 Graduation, Highlands High Stadium 5:00pm**

Tuesday May 29, 2018

**STUDENTS ARRIVE AT 4:00PM- ROLL CALL AT PLAYERS ENTRANCE

         

All seniors must be dressed and ready to line up by 4:00 p.m. in alphabetical order

 

All graduates will be checked for appropriate clothing: black shoes (no athletic shoes), dark pants (no jeans) or skirt (if showing below gown), and no leis of any kind (candy, flowers, etc). Graduates will NOT carry anything with them (no balloons, stuffed animals, backpacks, purses, etc.). Female graduates will not be allowed to wear spiked heels (heels smaller than a penny’s width) because it is not permitted on the turf of the Highlands stadium.  The gates will open at 3:45 p.m. with open seating for everyone. There is plenty of parking on Keema Avenue in front of the stadium, in the lot across from the baseball fields, as well as the student lot on Guthrie Street.

 

Commencement will begin promptly at 5:00 p.m. 

Graduation Ceremonies and Activities:

Seniors who have met the graduation requirements by the last calendar day of any given school year and have no outstanding debts to their school are invited to participate in the graduation ceremony at the school of their attendance. Students who have not met all the graduation requirements or have not repaid all financial obligations to the school may not participate in the graduation ceremony.  The graduating requirements for a Highlands High School student includes being capable of earning 220 credits in the correct subject area within the end of their senior school year.  The end of their senior school year includes summer school courses taken at Highlands High School or the designated school for Highlands High School students.  Students capable of earning 220 credits in the correct subject area will be added to that years graduation program, however only those who have completed all 220 credits prior to the date of graduation will have privilege of participating in the graduation ceremonies.  The principal may deny the privilege of participating in graduation ceremonies and/or activities based on the student’s conduct and behavior.  Additionally any misconduct during the graduation ceremonies, this includes any altering of the cap or gowns and or acting inappropriate during the graduation, will result in the student receiving community hours that will need to be completed before receiving their diploma.
